The Queensland Government 'Smart Classroom' supports digital classrooms with a great initiative called 'The Digital Classroom Project’ which incorporates information, resources and professional development opportunities to guide schools in understanding, planning and developing learning environments and experiences for students learning in a digital classroom (Department of Education and Training, 2010).
As part of this great project, placemats have been created as a resource for teachers which include practical ideas and strategies for classroom management, comprising ideas for working and learning digitally, managing digital content and for developing digital citizenship (Department of Education and Training, 2010).
Developed by teachers for teachers, these placemats encourage educators to create a digital-rich classroom by printing the sheets most relevant and appropriate to their teaching context and using it as a resource on the desk, beside computers or even wall posters that can be frequently referred to.
Below are a series of three teaching and learning with ICT placemats which I believe to be an excellent resource for educators in this technological age. As a 21st century educator I will endeavour to embed these practical resources into my future practice.
